Born in 432 square feet

Started in a small North Carolina apartment (432 square feet, to be exact), La Selva Coffee epitomizes what it means to be a scrappy startup.

Who are we?

We believe that everyone has a jungle to navigate in their daily lives. We think that starting your day off with a piping hot cup of fresh coffee is a great way to take on the day’s challenges. That’s why we decided to create La Selva Coffee.

Why “La Selva”?

Our organization is fierce and knows what it means to navigate the harsh jungle of business. That’s why we chose the name “La Selva”—the Spanish word for “jungle.” At La Selva, we’re just like you: lions ready to take on the world! We want to give you the energy and motivation you need to conquer your day.

About the founder & CEO

Samuel Buchanan

Founder & CEO, La Selva Coffee

Samuel Buchanan is a true adventurer. At the age of 22, he spent the better part of nine months exploring South America. After time in the Atacama Desert, marveling at the wonders of Machu Picchu, and camping for several days in the Amazon, he learned a great deal about the richness of South American cuisine—but his favorite was his morning cup of coffee.

Upon returning to the United States, Samuel graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in International Business and Spanish, and went on to earn a master’s in Business Management. He made it his mission to bring the great flavors of South America to the US, one cup at a time!
